2. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the topic you select, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit, our servers and our service providers may receive your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages viewed, time and date of visit, referring page, and approximate location (city or region) derived from your IP address.
Cookie and advertising identifiers. With your consent where required, advertising partners such as Google may set or read cookies and identifiers on your device to serve, limit, and measure ads. See sections 4 and 5.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as health information, government IDs, or precise geolocation.
3. How we use information
- To operate, secure, and improve the Site and our recipes.
- To respond to your messages and privacy requests.
- To measure Site performance and understand which content is helpful.
- To show advertising, which helps fund the Site at no cost to you.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and spam, and to comply with legal obligations.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use browser local storage to remember your cookie choice. Our Cookie Policy lists the categories we use and how to change your settings. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies and personalized advertising.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
We may display ads served by Google AdSense and other advertising partners. Please note:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or optout.networkadvertising.org.
- To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- If you choose “Reject non-essential” in our cookie banner, we limit ads to non-personalized ads, which use contextual information such as page content and general location rather than your browsing history.
Ads are always labeled or placed apart from recipe content, and advertisers do not influence our recipes. Read our Advertising Disclosure.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with:
- Service providers that host the Site, deliver email, protect against abuse, and provide analytics, bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms.
- Advertising partners such as Google, which may process cookie identifiers and device information as described above.
- Authorities and advisers when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where required.
7. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: consent (non-essential cookies and personalized ads); legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the Site, and answering messages); and legal obligation (where laws require us to retain or disclose information). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise a right, email contact@goldenyearskitchen.org or use our contact form with the subject Privacy Request. We may need to verify your identity, and we respond within 30 days (or sooner where required). EEA and UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
9. U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with privacy laws may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, and of profiling.
- Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (IP address, cookie IDs), internet activity (pages viewed), approximate location, and any information you send us voluntarily.
- Sale/sharing: we do not sell personal information for money. Use of advertising cookies by partners such as Google may be considered “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. You can opt out by choosing Reject non-essential in the cookie banner or Cookie settings in the footer, by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal, or by emailing us.
- Non-discrimination: we will not treat you unfairly for exercising your rights.
- Authorized agents and appeals: you may use an authorized agent. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response; if you remain unsatisfied you may contact your state attorney general.
10. Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience recipe site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Retention and security
We keep contact messages for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required by law, and delete or anonymize server logs within about 90 days. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures (including HTTPS) to protect information, but no system is perfectly secure.
12. International transfers
We and our providers are based in or process data in the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
13. Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please review their policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
